Gandhigiri with Autorickshaw drivers in Bangalore

My friend told me about his experience today when he asked one auto rickshaw driver to CMH Road from 100 ft. road. As usual, that guy didn't agree to it so my friend told Auto rickshaw driver that he will not allow anyone to take that rickshaw for another 20 min. He politely requested other people to not take that auto. 7 people supported him in this movement. After 20 min, my friend took another rickshaw and went off.

Is it a big deal?
Can we do something similar whenever we have time?
At least, Can we support the other person (like 7 people in the above incident) when someone is taking this kind of initiative?
Can we run a movement by these small contributions?
